Intrex's New Swiss CNC Machining Capabilities
CNC Swiss machining allows for the rapid machining of complex parts, making it ideal for aerospace manufacturing parts programs. At Intrex Aerospace, we have invested in new CNC Swiss machines as part of our expansion into our new Thornton facility. Our cell includes both a Citizen M432 with 9-axis capabilities and (2) Citizen A20 machines with 7-axis capabilities. These machines can produce complex shapes with diameters ranging from .050”-1.25” while maintaining the tight tolerances that the aerospace industry demands.
We have also included features to aid in setup reduction – a driving cost factor in the type of high-mix/ low-volume manufacturing performed with CNC Swiss machining. Our systems have bar-stock feeders with rapid feed rates of up to 32m/min. We have also purchased additional tool blocks to expand tool capacity in each machine. These features allow this cell to operate unmanned for long periods without operator intervention. This allows us to increase our capacity and capabilities without additional labor, controlling costs for high-mix/low-volume parts programs.
This is only one of the equipment cells we are adding to meet client requests as we continue our expansion in our Thornton facility. Throughout our transition, we retained all of our highly skilled machinist. These professionals are all highly competent and trained in Lean manufacturing principles. Our team looks forward to providing more reliable contract aerospace manufacturing services. This includes for projects requiring machining of aerospace alloys, thin-walled components, or complex, small-diameter aerospace parts.
